Community legal centres provide essential legal help to people across Australia. CLCs, and the legal assistance sector more broadly, are not adequately funded to meet growing demand. In addition, CLCs are facing funding cuts amount to 30% nationally from 1 July 2017, which will have a further and significant impact on the ability of members of the community to access the legal help they need.
- Reversal of Commonwealth funding cuts scheduled from 1 July 2017
- Injection of immediate funding, consistent with Productivity Commission recommendation of an immediate injection of $120 million per year by the Commonwealth Government
- Attract long-term additional government funding for the legal assistance sector
