More flexible reporting options for victims of sexual assault

The NSW Police Force media release states:

"NSW Police Force will today launch an alternate reporting option for victims of sexual assault that allows them to provide information about the incident without having to participate in a formal police investigation.

While police encourage victims of any crime to make a formal report, it is acknowledged that for a variety of reasons, victims of sexual assault often do not wish to report the matter to police.

The Sexual Assault Reporting Option (SARO) allows victims who feel this way to provide information anonymously."

Reporting options, and useful contact details, are available at: http://www.police.nsw.gov.au/community_issues/adult_sexual_assault
