Sector Session: Misidentification and AVOs Panel
When victim-survivors of domestic and family violence are wrongly identified by police as the perpetrator, the consequences can be devastating. Known as misidentification, this can result in victim-survivors being issued an Apprehended Violence Order or facing other legal consequences.
Join sector experts as they discuss the urgent issue of misidentification, its impact on victim-survivors, and the role community legal services can play in supporting clients who have been misidentified as perpetrators of domestic and family violence.
When: Tuesday 4 August 2026, 12pm - 1pm
Where: Online via Microsoft Teams
Registration: Register for Misidentification and AVOs here.
August Quarterly Network Meetings
The NSW community legal sector networks will meet in August from Monday 10 August to Thursday 20 August.
Find the network meeting schedule here.
Victims Services Community Training Workshops
The Victims Services Community Worker Training Program equips social workers, health workers and support workers with the knowledge and resources to complete victims' financial support forms accurately and to provide appropriate supporting evidence to community legal centres making applications.
The training provides guidance for making eligible applications and understanding the nuances of the application process, plus tips for avoiding common mistakes. It aims to ensure that more victim-survivors receive the financial support they are entitled to under the Victims Rights and Support Act.
When: Multiple dates
Where: Across NSW
Registration: See all dates in the program and register here.

We also have 21 sector networks that cover a range of topics and meet quarterly in February, May, September and November each year. Join a network to share knowledge and experiences, provide peer support in complex areas, hear from guest presenters, coordinate advocacy, and develop joint strategies for improving clients' experiences of the justice system.
